Shafqat Amanat Ali to launch Radio Mirchi and Meethi Mirchi

Shafqat Amanat Ali, the melodious voice behind songs like 'Mitwa' and most recently 'Phir Le Aaya Dil', confessed to being a hardcore romantic at heart. Shafqat was in the capital recently to launch two new radio stations by Radio Mirchi – Meethi Mirchi, India’s first and only radio station dedicated to Bollywood Melodies, and Purani Jeans, a 24-hour Hindi retro radio station.
On this occasion, Shafqat also turned RJ for a day as he went on air on Meethi Mirchi. He said, “It’s great to see Mirchi launching genre-specific radio stations, to cater to specific tastes. I love melodious songs and I am a huge fan of Hindi retro music. It’s great to see two stations dedicated to my kind of music. I am totally hooked to them.”
But does Shafqat know about the latest in music apps and gadgets? “I don’t have any such app on my phone yet. But after learning about this new Meethi Mirchi mobile service, I plan to download it and follow my kind of music on this service regularly.” And what’s his favourite kind of music? “ “I love all kinds of songs and listening to music is an integral part of my daily plan,” he said. “I’m so much into music that asking which kind of songs are my favourites would be a little unfair.”
Other than these two stations, Mirchi Mobile also allows subscribers a choice of 15 radio stations. Now listeners can just dial 59830 from their mobile phones and listen to hand-picked melodies and hit retro music from Bollywood on the go. This service is available across all major telecos.
